We are the Data controller under the Data Protection Act 1998 ('the Act') and any personal data that we hold about you will be handled in accordance with the Act and other applicable laws.
If you provide us with personal data such as your name and contact details, we will hold the data securely and will only use it for membership purposes or to contact you about our activities or for marketing purposes. We will not pass the data to anyone else unless required to by law. If you have sponsored a word or received gift sponsorship we will, with your permission, display your name on our website www.scotsdictionaries.org.uk. Please note that as the website is available in countries outside the European Union, where the level of data protection may not be the same as in EU countries, by giving us permission to publish your name, you are consenting to the transfer of your name to such countries.
IP addresses
We may collect information about your computer, including your IP address, operating system and browser type where available. This information provides us with statistical data about user patterns and does not identify any individual. We use it for system administration and to inform us about possible improvements to the site.
