Outreach Work
Words Worldwide
Members of SLD staff visit schools, universities, community groups, writers' groups, Brownie packs, Scottish Women's Rural Institute meetings, prisons, Burns suppers (as far afield as Rome), academic conferences and continuing professional development events for teachers. We are always delighted to talk about our work, the history of Scots and its place in Scotland today. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
We do not have a fixed charge for visits but expect our out-of-pocket expenses to be paid and a donation to assist the work of SLD is very much appreciated.
We often welcome visiting researchers to our offices. Recent guests have come from Norway, Japan, Germany and the USA. Visits by individuals or small groups can be arranged.
We run occasional events for members and supporters, so keep an eye on our news stories.
Our other Outreach projects include our Transatlantic Newletter (see North American Outreach for details) and the Scuilwab.
Dr Scott writes a Scots Word of the Week column in The Herald and Dr Robinson contributes a Scots Word of the Week to theSunday Times.
We are available at all times for consultation by the media, scholars and even the occasional crossword addict.
We are here to be consulted -- contact us!
