SLD's Current Projects

In this section:

SLD is first and foremost a lexicographical body. We produce Scots dictionaries covering the entire history of the language and actively support the use and study of Scots. We also develop other educational resources through our Scuilwab website. To the right you will find a series of pages with information on current research.

We are committed to an outreach programme that supports speakers of Scots. Our outreach programme has expanded considerably in recent years, to include visits by our outreach officers and regular newspaper columns. If you would like to arrange a visit from an outreach officer please contact Elaine Webster.

Scottish ex-patriates often nurture strong ties to the Scots language community back home, and descendants of Scottish emigrants show a strong interest in the language of their family. Our international outreach in Europe currently involves Scottish communities and organisations in Germany and Italy, and our North American outreach focuses on descendants of Scottish immigrants through Scottish-American and Scottish-Canadian organisations.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions about any of our projects.
