SLD on Facebook
Scottish Language Dictionaries now has a page on Facebook. The page was first launched in July this year, and we already have two dozen fans. We are very encouraged by this show of support. Our aim in setting up a page on a social networking website is to help more members of the public find us. We know, from searching the Facebook facility, that there is substantial interest in Scotland and that this interest extends to literary culture, and includes literature written in Scots.
The page provides basic information about Scottish Language Dictionaries: our history, the work we do, and our publications. It also offers us an easily-updated public space to advertise special offers, exhibitions and events, and allows visitors to the page to post queries about these items.
All our publications are listed on the page, with photos of SLD's premises and of events where SLD's dictionaries were featured.
We hope our Facebook page will start to create an online community for those who are interested in Scots, and in the lexicography that records the history and development of the language.
Be sure to visit our page and show your support by becoming a fan!
